Mental Health & Wellbeing
At Windsor Girls’ School, we believe that good mental health is just as important as good physical health. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, listened to and able to thrive.
We recognise that everyone experiences challenges from time to time, and that children's emotional wellbeing can be affected by a range of factors both in and out of school. Whether a pupil is dealing with worries, anxiety, friendship difficulties, low mood, bereavement, or simply finding life challenging, we want them to know that they are not alone.
We encourage all members of our school community to talk openly about mental health and seek support when needed. Through our pastoral care, wellbeing provision and partnerships with specialist organisations, we aim to ensure that pupils, parents, carers and staff can access appropriate support, information and guidance.
On this page, you will find a range of resources and services that can help support mental health and wellbeing. If you have any concerns about your child, yourself, or someone else, please do not hesitate to reach out for support.
Asking for help is a sign of strength, and support is always available.
Mr Black - Designated Mental Health Lead (DMHL)
Help for Students – There is a range of support available for students directly, at all stages of need, both in and out of school. This document explains what this support looks like.
Practical Guide for Parents - This is an excellent resource with practical advice for parents wishing to support their children when they are struggling.
NHS Berks - Little Blue Book of Sunshine – The LBBOS is a great resource for exploring a range of things that may be causing difficulties for young people.
Coping with Self-Harm – Self-Harm (or self-injury as it is more commonly referred to recently), can be a particularly tricky situation for a parent to support with. This guide, although a bit older now, still offers a lot of practical support. If you are worried about anything related to self-injury, please do reach out to the school for additional support.
